    • Mild, slightly sweet flavor — loved by all ages including toddlers and seniors

    How to Cook

Rinse 1 cup of moong dal thoroughly. No soaking required. Add to 2.5 cups of water in a pot or pressure cooker. Pressure cook for 2–3 whistles or simmer for 20–25 minutes until completely soft. Prepare a tadka of ghee, cumin, turmeric, hing (asafoetida) and dried red chili. Pour the tadka over the cooked dal and stir. Serve with steamed rice or roti. Also excellent as a thin soup or for making moong dal khichdi.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between moong dal and whole moong? Whole moong is the intact green mung bean. Moong dal is the same bean split and hulled (skin removed), yielding the yellow interior. Moong dal cooks much faster and is gentler on digestion.

Can moong dal be eaten daily? Yes — it is one of the easiest dals to digest, making it ideal for daily consumption, including for infants, the elderly and those recovering from illness.

Is moong dal suitable for making dosa batter? Yes — moong dal is used in moong dal dosa batter (without rice), creating light, crispy and protein-rich dosas.

Allergen note: Contains legumes. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Check the label for facility allergen information.
